4/7/2023 0 Comments Ps5 praey for the gods![]() We’re still digging into the DualSense controller and will continue to tune it as we polish the game for our launch. For a game like ours, it brings so many details of our world to life and makes interactions that much more compelling. It’s so satisfying and incredibly immersive. Feeling your feet crunch through deep snow, the tug of your sail cloth popping open as you leap into the air, or feeling the wind blow - all of these impacts are felt in your hands as you control your character. Feeling your bow draw back and the resistance match on the controller’s adaptive triggers is so visceral. Our minds were blown DualSense is such a big deal. We had played a couple demos from Sony showing how immersive it could be. Of course, our next thought was DualSense. Load times are dramatically reduced - it runs like a dream on PS5. 60fps right out of the gates, at max graphical settings, full shadows, high res textures it is awesome. It looks great on PS4 and runs well, but on PS5 the game is truly amazing. Since that time Tim, Chien and I have been working around the clock to get the game ready for a v1.0 launch with new boss content on PS4.Īs a small team of three Chien was already focused on PS4 and had implemented a number of optimizations over a series of months that got us running at a solid 30fps on PS4. Rather than a tailored, focused adventure, the Praey for the Gods combines too many elements that make this a convoluted experience. No Matter Studios is a tiny studio of three developers and Praey for the Gods is a crowdfunded game that has been in development since 2016. This, along with other needless mechanics, hampers the game. In an attempt to broaden the gameplay, No Matter Studios has added a survival system that is detrimental to the enjoyment. However, the dated controls make traversal and combat cumbersome. The boss battles are truly impressive in terms of design and execution and will please fans of SOTC. Praey for the Gods excels in some aspects but is hampered by a number of tedious mechanics. I would have liked to have seen the developers stamp their own identity on the game rather than simply imitating others. Unfortunately, the aesthetics don’t veer far from the source material. This is amplified due to the grand, orchestral soundtrack that accompanies battles. ![]() Their imposing stature makes each encounter a thrill. While the areas are quite similar, they do feel like part of one land that has been ravaged by the weather. ![]() The lack of life in the world heightens the importance of the task, giving the game an air of melancholy. Snowfall and the eternal night sky create a sadness that festers. The atmosphere is excellent in Praey for the Gods. Although encounters feel familiar, these have clearly been designed with love and admiration for the source material. ![]() Balancing these aspects adds to the intensity of fights, creating some incredible moments. Enemies will try to shake you off, so you will have to cling on for dear life otherwise you will have to make the climb again. As you ascend the Gods, you must search for weak points whilst managing your stamina. Each encounter is different with some including environmental puzzles in order to mount your foe. Beasts wander the world, requiring you to formulate a plan to vanquish the creature. The influences of Shadow of the Colossus are instantly recognizable with its impressive boss battles. With only remnants of humanity still visible, you will discover the mystery of the universe as you explore the various caverns and secrets that lie within. Trapped in an endless winter, you must put an end to the wretched curse by finding and slaying the giant Gods that roam the desolate plains.
